“Watership Down” Hazel & Woundwort Matching Production Cel and Background (1978) - ID: jun26021

A production cel and background setup from the Nepenthe Studios animated cult classic "Watership Down" (1978). Featuring Hazel, Captain Vervain, Captain Campion, and General Woundwort, the hand-painted cel and background were created at the studio and used during the animation process. The piece is an actual frame of animation that was photographed and appears in the film. The image is seen at about 1:17:23 when Hazel is negotiating with Woundwort. The cel layers all match the background, but they don’t match each other exactly. Measuring 10.5”x14” overall, with the character image area measuring 5.75”x12”, the setup is in very good condition with light edge and corner wear and adhesive tape along the top and bottom edges of the background.
